Do you really want to Drive Traffic to your Blog?
The first thing you need to do is to invest your time in Pinterest! You’ll be surprised to see that there’s so much more to Pinterest.
I’m going to enumerate 15 Ways To Use Pinterest to help you Drive Traffic To Your Blog.
1. Pin Your Videos
Follow Anna Zubarev | Pinterest Expert’s board Social Media Tips via Videos on Pinterest.
Who said that you can only add images to your Pinterest account? You can also add Vimeo or YouTube videos to your account. So much like when you are adding pins. Vimeo and YouTube both have this video page. You can click this and select “share”. From the share options, click on “Pin it” to share the video to your Pinterest board.
Your video can also play with ease within Pinterest.
2. Pin Your Presentations(SlideShares)
(you can read more about it here)
Most how-to articles and SlideShare presentations were said to be dysfunctional on Pinterest. I have ignored this warning and gave it a try on my own – and it worked perfectly well! You can have SlideShare files clickable on Pinterest!
- First, install a Google Chrome Extension for Pinterest.
- Log into your SlideShare account.
- Select what you want to pin.
- Select Slideshare Presentation.
- Pin it to your Pinboard.
- Make sure to optimize your description of this Slideshare presentation too.
Important Note: At first, the file you have shared on Pinterest may seem like an ordinary image. But after clicking the image, you will see the SlideShare controls. You can also click through the slides even with the Pinterest website. It works perfectly as how it would play on SlideShare.com.
3. Pin Podcasts
All kinds of audio files could be added in the pinboards. These files are hosted on Soundcloud or iTunes and could be played on Pinterest. I do not, however, recommend pinning an entire podcast. You can just simply Pin the lead-in to the podcast episode you want to share on Pinterest. All audio plays should be within 30 seconds or less for best results. All that can be done from the desktop of your computer, which will increase your chances and help you Drive Traffic to Your Blog.
4. Create your own Pin Template
This is just one of the few productivity tips you should be practicing to understand how to properly Drive Traffic to Your Blog. It revolves around the principle that the easier things are done, the more likely you are to execute them. Make sure that you have a few templates in hand for pin images and it is essential that you also start creating pins you can incorporate into your blog posts.
Once you have your own customized templates and you have had some practice making pins, it will be a lot easier to create a pin for each blog post and will only take you few minutes to finish.
I found easiest to create all my visuals on Canva.com as once your images are created there, they are saved automatically, so you may go back to them at any time.
Also, Canva holds many helpful already created templates you can use to recreate for proper Optimization.
Make sure to use stock photography when creating graphic images with text overlays.
5. Apply SEO tactics to your content
Pinterest boards also appear on Google search result pages. With this said, it is better if you create a few boards with your best long-tail keywords as titles. To maximize the benefits of SEO and to increase your Pinterest visibility, make it to a point images you pin to be properly optimized by having keyword-rich file names. Keywords should also be used in your pin descriptions. If you are unsure of the right keywords to pick, you can easily play around with the autocomplete feature of Pinterest (just like shown below).
However, for best results, which helped me understand how to Drive Traffic to Your Blog I recommend these 2 most important blogger’s tools:
- Keyword Planner
- Yoast SEO WordPress Plugin
6. Embed Pinterest to your Facebook
With just a few clicks, you can easily add a Pinterest app/tab to your Facebook. It will basically appear as an embedded version of your account in Pinterest. Embedding Pinterest is easy and will only take you about 10 minutes to accomplish.
As seen below, I’ve taken the time to also customize my app covers for the Pinterest, Twitter, and Instagram. Which I’ve created in Canva earlier.
(just like shown below)
7. Synchronize your Social accounts together
You can do this by updating your account setting on Pinterest. Click the gear icon at the upper right corner, scroll down and click “social networks”. Here you can associate other social media accounts with your Pinterest. Every time you create a new pin, you will see an option that will ask you if you want to share your pin to the social channels you have added to your account prior.
This technique helped me with increasing more visibility with my Pinning efforts, especially with Twitter.
8. Utilize Pinterest Business Analytics
If you are still using Pinterest for personal reasons, continue to do so. However, if you have an online business or have a specific product which is available online, you must have Pinterest for Business account. Having Pinterest for Business is completely free.
Once you convert your account to a Pinterest for a business account all your remaining data will be transferred. It’s a simple step process and you have nothing to worry about.
Pinterest Analytics will help you better understand your data. By analyzing your higher ranking pins, can lead you to create even better visuals. This is the key to Drive Traffic to Your Blog. You can use this data to improve the traffic of your site using Pinterest Analytics.
My recommendation to you is to let your data run for at least one month, so that way you can get a better perspective on your statistics.
9. Add Custom Watermarks to your original pins
Doing this will preserve your company’s brand. Once Pinterest users start sharing your pins, your brand logo will be all over Pinterest and they will get noticed and familiar. And check out the rest of my Blog graphics to understand what works for me.
10. Add CTA’s and a link on every Pin description
It was determined that descriptions with call-to-actions (CTAs) in their description, always have an 80% increase when it comes to user engagement. So always take the time to add call-to-action. Make sure to add the link to your site on every PIN which can send your viewers to directly to the source of your content and increase traffic to your blog.
11. Encourage Contributions
Your boards on Pinterest have the option to be set as the group boards. Where other pinners can add pins to the boards. Select several influencers and invite them to add pins in the group boards you have specifically created.
12. Is your content being pinned to other boards?
This can be fairly interesting for you! Take a look here: http://www.pinterest.com/source/yoursitenamehere, now you can instantly see what’s been popular and mostly pinned on your website.
This is where you can instantly see what’s been popular on all your pins and being mostly pinned from your website.
13. Make your site Pinterest-friendly
These are few basic elements for your site to be Pinterest-friendly:
- All images must have their individual alt tags. This text is the default text that Pinterest will be using for your images.
- All your site pages must have an obligatory Pin it button somewhere.
- Your website should be utilizing a Pinterest widget to easily showcase your most recently pinned items.
- Create all your Images in the Optimal Pinterest Format 735 x 1102.
14. Curate Content from other boards
Pinterest had always been known as a content curation tool – in short, the platform was built to share and bookmark. Use this in advantage to add pins from other boards redirecting it to your own Pinterest account. Do this by following about 30-50 more boards. By doing this, you are actually connecting to users on Pinterest, instead of just offering a one-way communication channel.
15. Make your boards attractive.
The best way still to drive traffic to your blog using Pinterest is by creating engaging and attractive boards. You can set up a few boards that will have elements of your business, how-to’s, DIY’s and any interests. Make it a habit as well to have at least 15-30 pins for each board to eliminate your board from showing empty squares from the dashboard overview. And to relevant 20-30 pins a day to keep your following engaged.
These are just some of the many ways you can apply for your Pinterest Strategy, and drive traffic to your blog.
And Lastly, Have Fun doing pinning, as in my case Pinterest is simply my JAM!
